Default MAYA 7 Batch Rendering Issues

Hi,

We're trying to use our new Dual core Mac (dual proc/dual core) with OS X.4 and Maya 7 to batch render some scenes. Scenes are rendering fine on other macs, but on this one there's a couple issues:

We're rendering in mental ray for maya - batch rendering

1- batch rendering stops suddenly sometimes
2- in the script edit window, we get no progress on what frames are running as on other machines
3- batch rendreing is VERY slow - taking 30 mintues per frame that takes only 10 minutes per frame on a single proc machine

Has anyone had any experince with osx & maya 7 on these new dual core machines? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
