Try checking your normals in those areas... maybe! Or try pushing or pulling the verts there. user added image Hope this helps.

I already talked with Hybrid in IRC about this, but I'll go ahead and summarize for everyone's benefit.

The dark strips are most likely caused by several long, narrow triangle sitting next to each other. A simple solution would be to either flip those triangle edges or split the triangles so that they are shorter.
