Disappearing objects during Batch Render

I am doing a simple keyframe animation with a ball and I am having a strange problem. When I batch render the animation, the ball will disappear for several frames in a row. Each time I batch render it skips the object on the exact same frames. There is nothing special about this file, just a simple ball and some plain geometry.

If I render the problem frames manually in the GUI the ball will render in the scene with no problem.

Has anyone seen anything like this before?

What are you rendering through, camera or viewport? Use a camera setup not the default viewports. Also, check your playback speed. Make sure it's set to either 24 or 30 fps, not Play Every Frame.
