Engine Glow?

Hello.
I need some help creating an Engine glow in maya similar to this image:

Spaceship glows

Hopefully you'll see this Rage, as you actually did it user added image

I believe he just applied a shader to certain parts and gave it a glow effect which is in the shader attributes under "special effects."

Sorry, just saw this...

Yup, simple shaderGlow.

I was under pressure to do somthing else at the time, so I didn't get a chance to do more detailed "electrical arcing" and "smoke" type stuff like I wanted to.
