Collision

I am having a problem making a dynamic rope colide with an object. I have a rope that is an extruded surface, of a line. The line has clusters which have been parented to a rope simulation using active and passive ridged bodies, so when I play my animation, my rope swings down from one end. Very simple.
the problem is I want it to collide with an object. So it swings down, but catches on the edge of my object. I made my object passive, and my extruded rope surface, active, and changed the collision layer, but no luck. Anyway I can do this?

The attached image shows what I mean, those blocks in the back are just the rope simulation that my curve is parented to.
