red shaded UVs question

hi all,

i have a piece of geometry, and when I unwrap it and place the numbered checker material on it, the numbers are back to front, so I can flip the UVs so they show correctly, but then that makes the shaded UVs red, I'm not sure which way around is correct, is it better/worse for the numbers on the texture to be back to front (or is it better/worse for the shaded UV to be red?)

any advice appreciated!
thanks
nicky

UVs should always be blue. if it's blue and the texture is flipped, then probably the normals direction is wrong. you have to check it.
