Maya 5 - Mac OS X UI issue

Anybody running Maya 5 on Mac OS X 10.3 get chopiness in the UI when tumbling, panning, etc. with only one simple object on the screen like a sphere ? I have a dual 867 G4, 1 GB of ram, ATI radeon 9600 pro (64 MB) - think my display is running at 65hz.. this isnt too big of an issue, just kind of annoying and will stop searching for a solution if anybody else running OS X has this same problem. Thanks

Ehh.. I dont.
I have the revB 12"PB, 768RAM and everything goes very well until I smooth.
