Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

Helo,
i am new in MAYA and i need your Help>>
i have a new PC with 3.4 duo core and nvidia GeForce 7600 GT , i have installed maya 8 and when i choose a Surfaces for example the Circle and try to work on it and then convert it to
polygen to subdiv & subdiv to polygen to put some edges and verticies, it does'nt work properly ....

with polygen to subdiv it works then subdiv to polygen i get smaller faces then to polygen smaller then to surfaces also smaller then it stop to convert...

what can i do to resolve this problem

Could you post a picture, if you mean that as you convert between the surfaces toyr gettin more geometry thant you need to adjust your settings so that it keeps the same number of faces.

Could you post a picture as I'm a bit unsure what you mean

Do you mean NURBS?
Then you should do the NURBS to Subdiv or NURBS to Polygons conversion.

it is converting an keeping a higher poly count

in the convert to poly option there should be 2 options

adative and vertices
chose the other one and try it
i thinks its vertices u want but cant tell u for sure as im not near maya

Now at SMU doing BSc 3D Computer Animation so its hard to get on here

It is set to adaptive by default, and this creates a load of polygons which more closely match the subdivision surface. If you want the original polygons back, you have to select vertices.
