Beer glass scene creation
This course contains a little bit of everything with modeling, UVing, texturing and dynamics in Maya, as well as compositing multilayered EXR's in Photoshop.

control over tubecurve

hello there,

newbie-question:
i would like to get some tubes with nice technical curves.
when i extrude a nurbs circle along a path, the curves look a bit funky.
how do i get more control over the curves? i tried to insert more knots on the curve ... looks better, but still not right.

can somebody give me hint, please?

cheers,
harry

well since i can't see what your wireframe looks like i can only suggest rebuilding your curve with curvature (as opposed to uniform) selected, and then enter in a higher number of spans. then try performing the extrude with your orientation set to 'profile normal' instead of 'path direction'.

Accept no substitutions.

Hi NeoStrider,

i already found a way: i moved the pivot point of a nurbs circle and did a partial revolve. more work but also a lot of control (user added image

Thanks for your help!
