Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 2
This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with complex objects.

blood shots

hi everyone,
I was wondering what is the best way to create blood splats when people get shot by machine guns? I was thinking either taking the hassle of using realflow and doing splashing simulations but i thought that would be very laggy and unefficient. So my second option was to try to get some gifs of bullet whole bloodsplashes that i could use in after effects. (although problem with that is that i dont have the plugins for those gifs or dont know the ones that contain them) has anyone done this before or anyone have any preferences on how to do these?

greatly appreciated,
Dan

I did somthing like that ages ago. I used a 1x1 poly plane wih a transparent texture on it and just animated it into the scene. For splurting i instanced them onto a particle emmitter. It turned out looking pretty good.

I agree with Some Guy; sprite textures instanced onto particles seems to be the way to go in games, now-a-days.

Not just with blood splats, but muzzle-flare, fire, smoke, dust, and a lot of other things.
