This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

Maya 8.5 + Vista

Ok Folks,

After much tooing and frowing, i decided to give Vista a little go. I have to say I like the UI and it seems to be a bells and whistles OS. There is security added in that seems good at first, but becomes more annoying as time goes on.

I have found 2 big issues with Maya and Vista:

1. It seems to have issues when overwriting a ma file and simply states maya has halted and closes it down
2. Mental Ray does not work. This is a known issue and Autodesk have stated no version of Maya is currently supported on Vista.

I am now going back to either 2000 or XP (prob XP tbh)

BB and NN all.

Nothing wrong with my PC I am afraid. It is only Maya 8.5 that has the issue. I was running Vista Ultimate, and it was only the two issues i found.

The MR one is talked about by Autodesk, and they have stated MR is not supported by Vista at all and dont plan too. The ma file problem is not one for the mb files.

I am running Vista Ultimate and have no problems with Maya - Mental Ray is working fine, however the only slight annoyance is that some processes take a little longer than when my machine was running xp.

gonna let those early adopter take their lumps, before I get Vista. That and I'm not going to clear 3 grand in hardware/software this year.
