Binding workflow

Hi,

I'm about to start a skeleton for my character. I've created clusters to make him blink. Now I want to create a skeleton, bind and skin him. Then I will make some blendshapes.

My question is, is it ok to just bind, skin and animate his mesh, then apply a smooth at the end before rendering? Because I see some suggestions that a proxy could/should be used prior to skinning. Will the method I am planning to use be ok or am I on the wrong track?

cheers,

gubar
