Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

So I sat down this afternoon for a hour and sculpted a hand from zspheres and a ref image. I then rendered out a normal pic and comp'd it up. Then I did something I don't usually do and cranked the color bump in the skin shader. Man, what a difference.

Are you fixing your textures as you go along as I would think there would be some stretch from the side from just a top projection...............dave

Hey Dave,

Yeah I go in and fix everything up in Photoshop before I call it a day. My workflow is pretty much the same as my ZBScan data workflow in the modeling section. I UV the hand, project with Zapplink in Photoshop and then fix the seams in PS with Zapplink again with the healing brush. Takes minutes. If I was going for hyperreal I would go in and retexture but I always like having a base. Even when sculpting I usually project a texture onto the polypaint for reference and landmarking.

EDIT: also to keep from having more stretch you turn off fade in the zapplink process.

Started on the bodies yesterday. Since it all runs off the attachment system I just model them in parts.

I was messing around for a couple hours with extrusions and welding in ZBrush. I accidentally deleted it while talking to Leon and showing micromesh tricks. Woops

Thanks for the link. I know of Lester Banks. One big thing I love about C4D is the ability to model with the mograph toolset. Using the effectors and cloners with the ability to instance is something that makes me much faster than working in Maya. Overall Maya is much better though. Figured I would post my own photo for a change. Taken at a showing last summer... Like anything be kind because it is still a work in progress. user added image
