No one's going to look at your formal Maya qualifications when you go for a job in this field (unless you want to teach at uni), they'll look at your skills which is why a certificate for watching tutorials wouldn't be that useful.
What are you looking to learn? If you're after animation courses check out https://ianimate.net/ as well, a friend of mine who's a traditional animator went there to and he loved it. They've got some free webinars on their site which are quite funny.

Exactly. Strengthen your portfolio. As a side note, I think Autodesk does Maya certification if you want to teach or what have you.
