Beer glass scene creation
This course contains a little bit of everything with modeling, UVing, texturing and dynamics in Maya, as well as compositing multilayered EXR's in Photoshop.

looking at the flame now, I see it should be larger and less symetrical.... whoops! :0

yea, less symetrcal. When you do your rinal render, can we have a star bg w/ flame close up, and a non-textured GI_Joe version please? Cant see the detail in your star version.

What happened to the stars on the ballon?? I liked them alot!

really nice, howard!

I would also suggest lighting the scene a little in your final, as Ultra pointed out, it's a tad dark. Perhaps a sunset scene? Or maybe dusk?

In any case, have you considered particles for the flame? One thing you might could do if you don't want to spend a lot of time on it, is the simple Create Fire option and then tweak it.

Keep it up!

oh i love this.. something about the model just makes it work so well in that dark enviroment... one thing that would look really cool is if you added some clouds below it and behind it.. almost like it is high up in the sky... but not exactly in space. Unless i missed something and this is a space balloon :O. Not even really physically possible.. but would be cool.. haha. But yea, some light clouds would be cool.

BTW, I really like what you did to the balloon itself.. the texture is nice user added image.

okay- I did the best that I could to adress the C+C you guys gave me...

about the stars on the balloon... uh...when I redid the texture I didnt get a chance to put them back in...<user added image

added the clouds and lightened the enviornment...

the flames- man I dod not know enough about particles to pull it off... and tonight was my first attempt... and not very sucesful one. user added image

I dont understand, I have them in there... and they show on the screen, but when I render... they are barely visable! (screen shot to follow)

thanks guys!

excellent! Maybe you could do another real quick with the stars? As for particles, you might just not have enough. It's a balance between the radius of your particles, the rate of their emission, and the amount of "blend" they have with each other.

Very nice piece of work- I hope you keep us up to date with how the rest of the comic goes, it's a great idea and super modelling.
