Worried about file sharing in the us? this could help

Hey guys, worried about music and file sharing?? I came accross this and thought that it was pretty neat. I am not really worried, seeing as how i don't mess with that to much, but some of you guys may or may not find it usefull

I was thinking about this a bit after I posted it.... What if it is a conspiricy? what if the gov is hosting this site, or atleast viewing the content on it, then if someone shares alot and signs in, then they will have that persons info??? something to think about user added image

Nopeuser added image You are fine if you do a search there.
My stepmom works for the site developers there,
and they get thier list from the courts.

NOTE: because of that, the list is not complete, and the RIAA is always adding/updating who they are looking for.

Small timers that just leech, or used to just leech, (just download), are not a target of the RIAA.

The major, and minor targets are those with larger than normal bandwidth usage stats AND who allow access to thier shared music directories with a file count of 1000 mp3's or more tagged as such.

For example, and to clear up the confusion, the 12 year old girl that was on the list had a shared directory with over 2 gigs of files, and left it on all the time, so she was an easy target.

Those of us who do not have static IP's AND who restart once in a while, AND who don't share any folders are at no risk as far as they are conserneduser added image

Good post Brian!

Hey what a small world! nice to know its legit user added image

i will be honest and admit that i do everyonce in a while esp for certain things... I mean what about the soundtracks and old music, that is just not sold anymore retail??? Like for instance, a movie like explorers? you can only get it used... I will honestly say, that I downloaded some stuff, but mainly after I have looked for it here in St. Louis in the stores... Anyways, I think file sharing can be very useful for certain things...

Alos (a pet peve of mine) if file sharing is so bad... Then why are people allowed to sell music (cds.records ect..) at garage sales??? I mean, not only is the music industry not getting "there share" but the person is selling it to get some money, and doesn't even have to pay taxes on it... oh well.

They had a huge discussion about file sharing and music on TechTV last night. I think there were two or three shows in a row that had something to do with it. Unfortunately, I was not able to watch hardly any of it, but I did catch a few of the interviews with a select few artists and some of them believe that file sharing is actually a good thing because it gives them more publicity. Still, I personally can't see how that would over-ride the thousands of people who don't pay for music, but whatever.

I really don't know a whole lot about it all since I don't even listen to music with words most of the time. user added image Video game music, midis, and movie soundtracks are my style.
