I got that it was supposed to be low poly. What do you do to make the lo poly smooth looking? Is that just Maya's standard smooth shade? Or are you just the bomb at not making them look not flat?

also his lower torso looks interesting but we haven't go a good angle of it yet, can you give us a side, or back view?

thx mike i appreciate the answers.

yeah, pretty much normal smooth shading of Maya, with 3point lighting, and softened edges where needed. Main reason a good legs view hasn't been given is the textures for them aren't done yet. user added image Once it's all done, I'll have a ton of views, like I did for Daisy Duke. user added image

He's excellent, I really like the helmet too. Can you show us a shot of the rigging with your handles and things? I'm just following your tut and am interested to see what other peoples rigs look like.

Sweet! What do you mean by soften edges? You mean try to reduce the angle between two faces?

Edit Polygons > Normals > Soften/Harden Edges > Options. I usually take it up to All Soft (180).

Holy crap Huge difference! what exactly does the soften do? Is it just about how it will get shaded? Thanx soo much mike.

Arg, wish i remembered what mark said. Umm, i until this point thought that softening your model actually repositioned verts so slightly so that it would make it smooth.. instead it changes the shading on the object to look like it is quite smooth, mike should be able to explain that better. or anyone that does understand it user added image.
