BAKING A 1024 x 2048 lightmap

is it possible to bake a 1024 x 2048 lightmap.

not positive, but my guess would be no. as far as I know all maps need to be squared.

yes its possible. and no they dont all need to be square

please explain it's very interesting and very usefull for everyone.
There is so much u can do with a lightmap.
