noob- tie fighter- first maya model kinda

hey all,

just thought i would post my second modeling attempt. i was trying kurts dog but gave up. I went to VIP tutorials and found this. I am new to all this. I am trying tie fighter and learning stuff, well not sure if learning or mymicing ...still yet to be determined. Well I will keep ya posted . Hopefully i will finish. Just real slow at it all. Enjoy

C and C always welcome.

Thanks to all of those who have done the simply maya tuts and those who have personally helped me out so far.

i know it is not much but i am happy so far and it is a start. Sad to say it is further than the dog. But the dog will not defeat me

Looks like a good start mmoore5553. Don't get too discouraged. I have started a ton of stupid models that I never finished and I am sure that is true of everyone when they first started. Just keep at it.

Nice start mmoore, good on you for backing up your work, I hope your computer is ok now.

You're right to rough out the shape out first. Once you've got that done it'll be more apparent where the detail needs to go and you'll be able to work out more easily how to get it there.

Keep at it,

Mat.

Nice progress man user added image

Dont worry about the detail yet, just block the whole form in first and take it from there. Looking forward to seeing this baby flying user added image

Thanks Mat and Tick also

I value both your statements. i am a big fan of your work too and also arron love your work.

Yes i been battling with on this model if you do the shape and then go back and put details or put details in first and then move on to the other shapes.

example

with what i have done already go ahead and work on details and then add rest of wings or just add the other part of wings and wait til it is all finished and then go back. Thanks for all your help

Looking good dude. I personally would finish off the basic shape of the model by finishing off the wings and then go and add detail but theres no hard and fast rule to go by its really up to you.

thanks mmoore5553 - I think everyone has their own way of working - I have seen some car modellers doing it piece by piece - but I would be inclined to do as the others here have said - build the whole basic shape and then go back adding detail. That way you can be sure that all of the parts are working in relation to one another.

I really like your model by the way - good choice. I think this is going to look great when finished.

The detail is looking fantastic! Keep up the good work! The more you apply your self, the better you will get. Try not to doubt your abilities.
