Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

map spotlightColor prob

I mapped a caustic file to spotLight_color for underwater scene. lightfog is on and the effect of lightbeams should be visible. it is, as long as the camera isn´t too close to the center of the coneAngle like in the pic below. but when moving the camera through the lightCone - the beams just disappear. cause the camera movement will be animated I´d need a workaround..

any ideas?

map a noise to the color and then animate the values of the noise. that's what i'd do.

Accept no substitutions.

I usually map an ocean shader to the light. That does the trick quite nicely.
