virtual drummer

This actually 4 projects in one.

1. Rendering a cool looking Replica of my drumset.

2. Rendering a phat drummer, Martina Axe'n of drain STH comes to mind.

3. Animating 1 and 2.

4. Writing C++ code using openGL to get them to follow a MIDI file in real time and look real doing it.

I love the concept and cant wait to see how it turns out. I myself have tried a drumset and didnt come out the best but actually having one must make it easier.

Good luck.

I sold mine about a year ago on eBay and have been building an electronic kit. Post some pics of what you have, I'd like to see it. It'll be a while before I have some really good shots, due to the detail I'm intending. I spent 4 hours just making the hi-hat tube and clamps.

im thinking of selling it since i dont really use it that much and getting a new pearl kit when im abit older soo i can continue on drumming as i was a drummer in some bands. the drums costed me $800ish AU dollers. but i donno who to sell it too or how etc thats why there just sitting in my other room lol. i have cleaned them today and got rid of all the dust and it looks brand new like i just bought them without any scraches but are just out of tune.

my kit has, bass drum, floor drum, snare, hi-hat, symbol, tom1&2, a seat and a bass pedal thats all. drum kit is boston btw, and was bought at billy hyde music in australia.

yeah i just though about that, but who would be willing to pay the posting and handling ... last time i sent a couple of books and the posted costed them $50 US :S if i did sell that, it would be more reasonable if i only did it in aus if they were willing to pick it up and travel user added image

Search the completed listings for the same set, and see what they had to do. As far shipping, if they want it bad enough, they will pay. I had a guy in Germany pay me over $200US to ship a $200 item from the US to Germany. He had to pay that, plus VAT, I think.

I only paid $50 for it in the first place.

We've got my older daughter an electronic drum kit for christmas, I'm not too sure that she'll get much of a chance to play with it on the big day though, between me and my wife we'll keep her off it for a few days for sure!!

Twisteddragon33, you should definately finish that model.

Barnam3, I love your idea to have a real time drummer, get it right and it will be amazing!

Good luck,

Mat.

Thanks Mat,

I have not had much time with maya for a few months - work, work, work.....:headbang:

The idea is still strong in my head though.

I'm building an electronic set from scratch, they make recording so much simpler. And head phones expand the times of day that I can play too!!! :attn:
