This course contains a little bit of everything with modeling, UVing, texturing and dynamics in Maya, as well as compositing multilayered EXR's in Photoshop.

hi .. i've started to work on the engine for my bike ..

i'm working on an outer panel for the crankcase

when i select this section .. do anyone know a reason why converting from Polygons - Sub Div won't work? i get an error

i was trying to change to sub div to do some more tweaking then switch back to polygon, it would work for my perosn model but not this for some reason ... any ideas why?

and is it possible to switch Polygons to the 'smooth' option, tweak a little, then switch back from smooth to rough polygon again?

thanks

polyToSubdiv -ap 0 -ch off -aut on -maxPolyCount 1448 -maxEdgesPerVert 34 |polySurface9|polySurfaceShape10;
// Warning: Nothing is selected. Select objects or components to delete. //
// Error: polyToSubdiv1 (Poly To Subdiv Node): One or more edges is nonmanifold.
// Nonmanifold geometry cannot be converted to a subdivision surface.
// To clean up nonmanifold edges, use Polygons->Cleanup with the nonmanifold option. //
// Error: Command polyToSubdiv failed. Open Script Editor for details. //

^^^ the error .. it ried to clean it up .. but same error

Hi Wheels,

I've been having troubles with this. When you do cleanup pay attention to what areas are highlighted. If cleanup doesn't do it for you, you will have some geometric errors in the highlighted areas. Investigate there.

Good luck with the bike,
from another biker,
mic
