Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

extrude: why does it extrude faces induvidually

extrude: why does it extrude faces induvidually

When I extrude these faces, they extrude individually.

How can I extrude them so that they are in unison, the shape I would like to create would be look like a baseball cap, a shelf, or a fish’s fin.

*Basically the edges would need to be joined*

go to

Polygons>Tool Options>Keep faces together

In the channelbox after you extrude, look for "keep faces together"....change it from "off" to "on." If you want to keep the faces together for all extrudes go to the polygon menu:

polygon menu > tool options > keep faces together (make sure it's checked).

EDIT: Looks like I type too slow. user added image
