duplicate problem

I'm suddenly having something odd happen when I duplicate an object. I push duplicate and pull the duplicate away from the original but the duplicate copy in shaded mode is dark blue for some reason. I can't figure it out.user added image

how strange, did u delete the lambert 1 accidentally? if so try replacing it with a new lambert.
