Background image

Hello all, when placing a background image in an animation how is it best to do this.

A Dome textured? A plane? or done in post like After Effects.

I've seen animations were the camera is obviously rotating in the 3D scene and the texture is there, just thought it would be kind of warped if placed on a spherical dome..

Thanks
