Complex UV Layout in Maya

Hammer Head HELP!

I need help creating a hammer head. I have this picture right here and I can't make the head. I already have the handle. I have been trying to use a sphere, and morphing it with the scale tool and control vertex's. Need Help

im pretty new to maya but if i were you id break it down into smaller shapes as much as you can you could make it entirly out of cycliners using a total of bout 5 then mould em to the shape then join em.

Trouble with that

I always have a lot of trouble in joining NURBS...I don't know why but my shapes never connect. Even if they do, they never become one shape, it says they connected and then they are all still several different shapes with no connection. I hate it.

well then just create poly shapes i h8 nurbs 2 but you can just get 2 polys and combine em its soo much easier i think.

I haven't gotten to work with poly's much but those that I have worked with, I've had trouble with...

yeah...

yeah...just tried that...I suck at poly's
really good at nurbs. They're so much easier to morph...
